What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Good morning, my friends. We were without power for 21 hours yesterday. It's the longest power outage in my memory. What an exceedingly boring day! Fortunately, I had a fully-charged headlamp, and so I could spend most of my day on hand embroidery. But let me tell you...even for someone like me, obsessed with hand embroidery, it gets old after a while. Besides, previously broken thumbs begin to grumble after a couple of hours. Nevertheless, I was able to finish up the Winter Wonder piece.

It isn't really finished because it should still have a tiny quilt ...

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Tuesday! Things are looking up here snow-wise. It's 35°F and raining! Yay! That snow can't linger much longer under those conditions. (As I'm proof-reading just prior to publishing this post, snow is falling again. Boo!)

It was an NBS day for me yesterday. After my slow stitching, I went straight to work quilting leaves. Today, I'll start the final round. Yesterday's progress might be described as the Day of Echoing Lines. I began with this spiralizer that started at the tip of the skinny leaf.

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Tuesday! Things are looking up here snow-wise. It's 35°F and raining! Yay! That snow can't linger much longer under those conditions. (As I'm proof-reading just prior to publishing this post, snow is falling again. Boo!)

Happy Hump Day, my friends. It's a laundry day here. We'll save our favorite task...grocery shopping...until tomorrow. The good times just keep rolling here at the Three Cats Ranch. 

Yesterday, I met up with my friend Sue at the South Store Cafe. It was a pretty day. I was trying to remember the last time we'd been here, and I believe it was pre-pandemic. In the meantime, they made a few little changes by adding more tables and rearranging the counter where orders are taken. They make good oatmeal here, and let's face it ...

It will be a welcome relief from the darkness that has enveloped us for the past several days. I expect I'll be able to get outside for a walk in the next day or two. After my slip and fall last week, however, I'll wait for the pavement to dry. It's sunny, but it's cold.

At least one of my blogging friends mentioned the de-energizing quality of winter weather. I am in complete agreement. It's a time of year when I want to get under the covers with my Warmie and drop off into a state of hybernation. Today will need to be a grocery shopping day, which always throws a monkey wrench into any plans I might have made otherwise.

Receiving a review copy this new book by C&T Publishing, My Sewing Workshop, by Annabel Wrigley, made me so excited to teach my grand daughters to sew. Wrigley wrote the book as a guid for young people to learn to sew on their own. If the girls were about 10 – 12 years old, the book would be perfect for that. Because they are much younger, I would utilize the book differently. For me, the book is the perfect outline of how to teach children to sew. We've extended our lazy streak to a fourth day. If I'm being generous, I'd say Day 1 doesn't count since we did drive over 300 miles that day. Since then we've done nearly nothing. Today may change that. I got out our hiking book yesterday and looked for some hikes we might want to take. Mike wondered if I'd like to ride bikes. The idea of riding bikes still fills me with dread, but I'm working on enjoying it more and riding with less fear. Maybe we'll do one or the other ...
